I just ugraded to a new Core i7 iMac and the cmd-K shortcut no longer works for me. However, the built in shortcuts ability works fine.

1. Go to System Preferences
2. Open up the Keyboard prefs and go to the shortcuts tab
3. Click the +, select Safari, and for the menu item type in "Google Search..."
4. Bind it to cmd-K
5. Restart Safari and you should be golden.

Thanks so much for these tips, they're invaluable to me. Regarding google search: I found my menu item inside Edit -> Find -> Google Search. Hope this helps others.
